know I’m going to sound 50 years older than I am, but in my opinion, if
you run from the cops – you deserve to get shot. I’m not against
discussing the semantics of tasers, but the real core of this issue is
not the right and wrong use of tasers, but why the taser needs to be
drawn in the first place. It’s not just indoctrination from my own family as a kid, but doctrine that I’m teaching my kids now! Our society invents entirely too many different ways to blame anybody and everybody for everything so that nobody is responsible for anything. When the answer is sexual abstinence, one psycho went on a crusade to kill doctors at abortion clinics. We don’t need Sherlock for that one. When the answer is to be responsible for his/her own rate of alcohol intake – we have State legislatures passing laws that hold bartenders and taverns responsible for patrons who leave drunk. There is nothing uniquely sanitary about killing the innocent with a vehicle: If you drink and drive and kill someone – it’s Murder 1. Arizona’s new slogan right now is: “Over the Limit. Under Arrest.” I think it’s kind of cool! When the answer is to quit smoking, the criminal becomes the cigarette manufacturer. I believe in the kind of character that this country was founded upon, and I have serious doubts that it could happen again by today’s ridiculously ambiguous standards: Child Protective Services would have incarcerated all of our founding fathers for attempting to raise real men and women into society that could not have developed any other way. There will always be new statistics to keep to our lawmakers employed, like NO Text Messaging while Driving now, however, laws that incarcerate peace officers for doing their jobs need to be repealed. They’re Wrong! Why try to call it anything other than what it is? If the bad guys weren’t running – there wouldn’t be a problem now, would there? It really wasn’t so long ago when citizens didn’t get into a contest with a peace officer because the law was on the officer’s side. Those who didn’t know that didn’t get much sympathy by anyone. The legendary ‘Fountain of Smart’ still existed. Commit the crime – do the time. If you haven’t done anything wrong – DON’T RUN! Or do we need to print it in 73 languages? |
